I upgraded the Red Eclipse server to version 1.5.6 after I updated the official Debian package as well. Unfortunately the new packages are only available in Debian Stretch and Debian Sid and they didn't make it in time to be part of Ubuntu 16.10. For now I recommend to download the sources and recompile the game for your target platform.
